A Theatrical City Retreat
Krikla Studio was appointed to design a flat undergoing complete internal demolition and a significant change of layout. With the interior cleared, the space was a blank canvas, and the design had to be shaped from the ground up.

The brief:
The apartment was to serve as a city pied-à-terre for a family who live permanently in the countryside. The clients wanted a loft-style interior with a whimsical, theatrical twist: a place that feels different from home, and a little like a stage set for city stays.
Our approach:
We began by developing a new layout, then built the design concept and decorative scheme on top of it. The loft direction gave the space openness and character, while theatrical touches added drama and playfulness. Because the layout and the design were developed together, every decision, from planning to finishes, worked towards the same idea.
